RIAIPE3: The Inter-University Framework Programme for Equity and Social Cohesion Policies in Higher Education in Latin America

The Inter-University Framework Program for Equity and Social Cohesion Policies in Higher Education in Latin America, referred to as RIAIPE3, is a project being developed by a consortium led by Professor António Teodoro, Director of the Centre for Research and Intervention in Education and Training (CeiEF) of the Universidade Lusófona de Humanidades e Tecnologias, under the ALFA III program, an European Commission program for cooperation abroad.  It aims to promote the structural transformation of Higher Education Institutions in Latin America through models of intervention, to improve the relevance of university functions in balanced social development, promoting equality and social cohesion.  It will be in progress between 2011 and 2014, and represents an investment of around 3,000,000 Euros.

The project involves a large international collaborative network, composed of Universities from 14 Latin American countries (Argentina, Brazil, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Cuba, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras, Paraguay, Peru and Uruguay) and 6 EU countries (Portugal, Spain, France, Holland, Italy and the UK), working in association with the University of Bologna (Italy), University Federal of Paraíba (Brazil), and the Organization of Iberoamerican States (OEI).
