Being prepared
What
Being prepared involves knowing what digital facilities are available to you in your usual teaching spaces, knowing who to contact if a problem arises, and having alternative activities lined up as a back-up if the technology fails! Incorporating preparing for the digital environment into your lesson planning will help you organise your session timings, give you more confidence to use technology, and means that you are prepared for any scenario. Prepare simple alternatives to digital learning activities – for example take along Post-it notes so that students can still share information in case Twitter fails.

Microsoft PowerPoint has long been the standard tool for presentations. When presenting to an audience having the ability to ‘show’ examples of what you are talking about enhances the presentation and can make it more memorable for your audience.

Nearpod is an App and web-based tool that can be used to create interactive and engaging presentations that can be pushed out to students’ own mobile devices such as laptops or iPads. They can then respond to real-time polls and questions that are embedded in the presentation.
