Reflecting Realities: Survey of Ethnic Representation within UK Children’s Literature 2018 was published this morning on CLPE’s website. It shows an increase in the number of books featuring a BAME character and also an increase in the number of BAME main protagonists from last year. However, 33% of children in the UK are from BAME backgrounds. So while it is great to see an increase in the figures, there is still a lot of work to be done.
