Thursday is National Poetry Day; a day to celebrate all things poetic. Here are some ideas on how you can celebrate with your class:

•  The 2016 theme is ‘Messages’ and you can find an excellent teaching sequence from the CLPE here.
• Take a look at the CLiPPA 2016 (CLPE Poetry Awards) teaching sequences here
• Visit the excellent Poetryline website for clips of poets such as Joseph Coehlo, Rachel Rooney, Michael Rosen, Julia Donaldson and Allan Ahlberg reading their work. Poetryline is the National Poetry Centre for Primary Schools.
