Making My Portfolio Showreel: A Reflection

I was looking forward to making my showreel as I enjoy smaller edits that I can put to music as it just makes for a more interesting watch rather than the lengthier interviews that I had been doing. It was also a nice time to reflect on the work I had done for my FMP and to collate all the clips into one shorter video. I had been listening to a lot of music especially during the lockdown period so I had a good idea of the type of song I wanted to use. I ended up going for the song Iodine by I Set the Sea on Firewhich is a band from the area that I live in the Peak District and where a lot of the video clips were filmed so it seemed very fitting. I really love the intro of the song, it starts very slow but eases into a gradual build-up of tempo which was great for making jumps in the clips in time with the music, although I didn’t want to make it too repetitive and predictable by jumping clips all the time. I had another nightmare with my external hardrive in which all my film projects on iMovie became corrupted so I had to start my showreel from scratch a couple of times. If anything this made me push on with getting it finished before it crashed again but I had originally wanted to play around with transitions and effects a little more than I did, but overall I was happy with the final piece.
