I don’t have alot of confidence in my abilties as an artist, if I’m being honest.
But the more I do, the better I feel about my work and the prouder I become about what I produce.
I was inspired by a poem I read by Rupi Kaur back in October 2020.
I didn’t quite know what I wanted to create after reading the poem; but the thought stayed with me about representation…. until a few days ago where I decided to draw a butterfly on my iPad. This butterfly is breaking free from its original form as a chrysalis.
The more I delve into my art, I discover that I have always been a butterfly amongst the moths- someone who has always been seen as ‘odd’, sometimes for undescribed reasons. But different doesn’t have to be negative, different can be positive and the butterfly learns to fly and adapt to its surroundings.
So for me; I’m breaking out of my shell and becoming that butterfly with the bright colours and expressing my art more.
