Mindful walks… natural drawings

Mindful walking- especially during lockdown has been a really enjoyable activity I have participated in.

Going for a walk around my local field always calms me; but also the weather is always changing… one day its raining, the other sunny, blue or grey skies, rainbows, sunsets… the possibilities of the changing seasons and how the landscape changes is amazing.

I went on a muddy walk and saw a puddle…

It may not seem like much- but I felt inspired to do two pieces of very different artwork inspired by this puddle.

The first is a video. Of how the rain came beating down on the puddle. Its overly edited… almost giving a fingerprint impression- a sign to me that water is a life source for the planet. Things need water to grow, so it was important I captured this. Video is also an important part of my creative practice; so in a way, I made this as a life source to sustain my creative and artistic energy.

The second piece is alot calmer, and captured the peaceful nature of a puddle slowly growing. Its a digital drawing of one single droplet of water not quite hitting the puddle.

This was really enjoyable to do and made me think about the purpose of small impacts.

As each raindrop falls… it leaves a big impact; then deminishes.

It inspired me to think about my own role as an artist and how I like to work.

My work is usually done within a team, but it makes a big impact on the team who I am working with- meaning a project is made up of many contributing artists and creatives in order to be a success.
