Public art: To the Pier and back

My art is inspired by the world around me; and finding interesting places to sit, to ponder, to draw and create is one of my favourite things to do.

I went on a 5 mile walk to my local (Worthing) pier; and decided to sit down and draw this:

What inspired me?

Not ony did my long walk here inspire me to sit down, relax, chll out and draw… but line drawings from traditional oriental artists did too.

The website https://www.hokusai-katsushika.org/landscapes.html has many Japanese paintings that use simple lines coloured in with inks.

The connection to nature here inspired me to get back out into my own natural world and local environment around me and use lines to draw landscapes of interesting buildings that matter to me: like the pier.

Mount Fuji. Unknown Artist. 1830.
