The Fashion and Dress History strand of CDH (led by Suzanne Rowland, Charlotte Nicklas, Veronica Isaac, and Aurore Damoiseaux) invites you to join them for their upcoming study day.

11am-4pm, Hellerup Stairs and Design Lab (111),
Mithras House

This in-person workshop builds on the Redressing History project

During the workshop, external speakers Elli Michaela Young (Middlesex University), Tanveer Ahmed (Central Saint Martins, UAL) and Michael McMillan (London College of Fashion, UAL) will be joined by CDH PhD students Anika Shaikh and Pragya Sharma to share their research, discuss potential applications and establish productive ways to support and foster research.

Each speaker will present their research in the morning (11-1PM) on the Hellerup Stairs, followed by a lunch break.

In the afternoon (2-4PM), the event will continue in the Design Lab where the UoB Dress History Teaching Collection is housed. After an introduction to the Collection by CDH Fashion and Dress History leads, Alex Esculapio will present a student’s project which used 3D software to digitise Biba items. This will be followed by a roundtable discussion on possible research projects based on items from the Teaching Collection.

If you would like to participate in the event, please RSVP by emailing Suzanne Rowland S.Rowland2@brighton.ac.uk.
