University of Brighton Design Archives
58-67 Grand Parade
Brighton
BN2 0JY
UK

Before visiting please read our Access Policy and the following guidance notes.

Location

The Design Archives are located at the Grand Parade site of the University of Brighton, approximately 10‐15 minutes’ walk or a short taxi ride from Brighton railway station. There is limited, short-term meter parking on the streets behind the building, and other car parks are shown on the map. Visitors from outside the University should ring the bell at the main doors to be let into the entrance foyer by security and a member of our team will come and get you from there. There is a café and restaurant in the Grand Parade building where a good selection of food and refreshments can be purchased and consumed during breaks from research. Alternatively there is a wide range of catering choices available in the Brighton Lanes nearby. Refreshments
may not be brought into the Archive.

Visiting

Our current opening times are Tuesday and Wednesday from 10.00am to 12.30 pm and 1:30pm to 4pm, by appointment. As there is high demand for access, we ask that you advise us if you are running late or cannot keep your appointment. A secure locker will be provided to store outerwear and personal possessions, with the exception of pencil (not pens) and paper or laptops, which can be used for note‐taking purposes. Hand‐washing facilities are available on the ground floor: please come with clean hands. You will not have free access to the document stores, and items will be supplied in small batches. On your first visit we will ask you to read and complete our Visitor Record and Conditions of Access form with information about the nature of your research. The form also asks you to confirm that you have read, understood and will abide by the terms and conditions governing access to the Archives. Please read our Visitor Privacy Notice on how we use your data.
