The PGR Creative Methods Group would like to invite you to join us for a vibrant symposium on creative research methods on Tue 6th December 14:00-15:30 on Microsoft Teams (use this code to join: 6r81bq6).

This session features:

Laharee Mitra – ‘Thinking through tours: The reflective potential of museum tours in understanding staff experiences.’

Laharee will explore the uses of museum tour as a research tool in her museum practice. She will consider the reflexive and creative potential of making tours, which not only links stories of the objects in the museum but also the museum to wider social and philosophic ideas, and  discuss the possibilities of using this process in her research with museum learning professionals to understand their experiences of museums.

Joe Jukes – ‘Arranging, recording, emerging, repeating: Video for unlearning (rural) and enlivening (queer) research.’

Joe will screen a curated selection of video portraits, co-created with participants over the course of an ethnography of queer Somerset. You will be invited to experience this different form of research/output/art object without much contextualisation, in order to reflect on what creative research outputs can tell us, or enact politically, in and of themselves.

The group is open to all who share our passion for creative methods and our desire to provide a supportive, stimulating space within which to explore these. No advance sign-up is required; just turn up on the day if you wish to join us.  (Participants external to the University of Brighton will need to email Helen in advance of the session to be added to the Team as a guest.)
