Upskill your staff with Higher Technical Qualifications (HTQs)

What is a HTQ qualification?

HTQs are level 4 and 5 qualifications in the digital, health and science, and construction sectors, which have been approved against occupational standards developed by employers – the same standards that were developed for apprenticeships. These standards ensure that learners gain the skills that employers want, and employers can be confident that learners have the knowledge, skills and behaviours for a particular specialist role.

These qualifications come in the form of Foundation Degree, Certificate of Higher Education and Diploma of Higher Education, and can be undertaken by people of any age, so they are frequently used for adults who are looking to upskill or retrain.

Can you study a HTQ while working?

Yes! Employers may offer their staff the opportunity to study these qualifications part-time, alongside their job. If studied full-time, the Diplomas of Higher Education (DipHE) last two years, and the Certificates of Higher Education last just one year.

What is a HTQ like?

HTQs are mostly classroom based, but at Brighton, students will learn practical skills in workshops, by working on project briefs, and through using facilities that simulate and replicate the equipment, software and scenarios found in the workplace.

Courses are reviewed and enhanced on an ongoing basis, making sure that content is relevant, up to date and exactly what employers are looking for.

• Business Analyst CertHE
• Software Developer DipHE
• Cyber Security Technologist DipHE

On successful completion of the DipHE level courses, students are eligible to move on the final year of a corresponding degree course.
