Casting her international net

We’re only into May and it’s already been a hectic year for Brighton alumna Louise Giblin (Sculpture BA 1985), so we were delighted to get an update on what she’s been up to.

As a member of the Royal British Society of Sculptors and international body cast sculptor, Louise is best known in the UK as the sculptor who applies plaster to the bodies of British Olympians and Paralympians, including Dame Kelly Holmes, Kriss Akabusi MBE and Eddie ‘The Eagle’ Edwards.

Louise was awarded a medal for sculpture by the International Jury at Florence Biennale 2015 and as a result, was selected as the visual artist to represent the UK at a G7 of Art, part of a larger G7 of Culture in the historic Italian city. Established artists from Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan and the United States also took part in the G7 exhibition held in Santa Croce Monumental Complex in April.

Louise was also one of the artists representing the UK for the Grand Artist Prize at Art Revolution Taipei, Asia’s largest art fair in April 2017 and was selected for the Florence Biennale October 2017.

Her work is currently on display in London, Edinburgh, Taiwan and East Grinstead.
