Dr. Idil Fenercioglu Aydin and co-investigator Dr. Agnieszka Kwiek are studying unsteady flow phenomena associated with delta wings with roll oscillations where the dominating vertical flows may support support energy harvesting in the low Reynolds number regime. The study focuses on developing a novel energy extractor to demonstrate that flapping wings can deliver a green solution, aligning with AEC research on Clean Energy. The investigators are collaborating with colleagues from ENAC-Toulouse, France and AeroHydro Research & Technology Associates, USA to perform computational simulations along with experimental research to efficiently harvest energy from renewable and sustainable resources. The main aim of their study is to determine optimum motion parameters to build a conceptual design of an innovative small size flapping-delta-wing energy generator which they hope will lead to an industrial product.
