A Visiting Research Fellowship may be awarded to a person of appropriate academic/industry/third sector standing who is not a member of University of Brighton staff, but who is associated with and keen to contribute to the work of its academic ambitions.

We value the contribution our Visiting Research Fellows make to the research community of the Advanced Engineering Centre. Applications can be made by individuals wishing to undertake research which is aligned with that already taking place within the University, and in collaboration with University of Brighton staff. The Fellowship is designed for those scholars who wish to focus on a specific research project with measurable deliverables for up to one year.

Potential applicants are welcome to contact the Centre Director to discuss.

Viet Hoang Le (Summer 2023)

Viet Hoang is visiting us until 15 August as part of his degree at INSA Rouen Normandie (France). Hoang is supervised by Alex Gander and Prof. Cyril Crua to develop and test new methods for spray analysis using machine learning algorithms.

Dr Iulen Cabezagil (Feb-May 2023)

Iulen recently joined us from the University of Zaragoza (Spain) to work on new accommodating intraocular lenses, as a Visiting Researcher. This joint project between the CRMD and the AEC is supervised by Dr Susan Sandeman, Dr Emma Ward and Prof. Cyril Crua.

I am a postgraduate student of National Research Tomsk Polytechnic University. I am studying the effects of puffing and micro-explosion in composite fuel droplets in the Heat Mass Transfer Simulation Lab under the supervision of Professor Pavel Strizhak. Last year I was awarded a scholarship of the President of the Russian Federation to study abroad and I decided to visit the Advanced Engineering Centre because of the presence of world’s leading scientists (Professors Sergei Sazhin and Cyril Crua) who are studying the effects of puffing and micro-explosion. I think this is an excellent opportunity to gain new knowledge and develop international cooperation in this field of science.
