On November 17, 2020, a feasibility study investigating desulfurization catalyst technology for the European shopping market was formally kicked off. The collaboration between LowCarbon Co., Ltd. and Coventry University and Brighton University in the UK, Jeollanam-do Province, and Gwangyang City will work to develop new catalyst technology to meet environmental regulations for sulphur oxides.
LowCarbon Co., Ltd. is a Korean start up pioneering an innovative sulfurizing combustion desulfurization processing technology, which aims to reduce the cost of the desulfurization processes following the implementation of the IMO 2020 Sulphur Cap’s environmental regulations, which requires all ships worldwide to use fuel containing 0.5% or less sulfur as of 2020.
