Graduates 2022: Amber Lloyd: Fashion Communications

My course has facilitated my learning and helped me gain knowledge in the creative industry. I now feel confident in creating my own brand and starting my career as a freelancer.

Please tell us a bit about your work and your influences

Nature has always been a significant influence in my photographic work and as a result I tend to create pieces surrounding themes of sustainability. I have a strong aesthetic and colour palette working with saturated pastel colours and soft natural lighting.

Some of my favourite creatives/brands consist of Wes Anderson, Tim Walker and Kinfolk magazine.

How did you find course and time at Brighton?

My course has facilitated my learning and helped me gain knowledge in the creative industry. I now feel confident in creating my own brand and starting my career as a freelancer.

Why did you choose to study your course?

I chose to study fashion communication with Business studies as it allowed me the freedom to go into different paths such as graphic design, illustration, styling, photography etc and then specialize in my final year.

I felt studying business alongside a creative subject was the perfect combination for me in terms of practicality after my degree.

Part of my decision to study this course was also the location, wanting to live near the coast and so close to opportunities in London.

What are your plans after graduateion?

After I graduate my plan is to continue working with small businesses as well as assisting some high profile photographers and build up my career as a freelance photographer.
