The annual David Thomas Awards are open for entries.
The awards are a collection of prizes, screening events and workshops supporting emerging Brighton filmmakers in memory of an exceptional student and filmmaker, David Thomas, who passed away in 2013. They aim to help graduating students from The University of Brighton bridge the gap between education and industry, while also supporting young filmmakers already working in the city.
David was a Brighton based filmmaker and University of Brighton alumnus who graduated in 2011 with a 1st Class Honours degree in English and Media. He went on to build a successful career for himself straight out of University at various production companies in London and Brighton.
There are three prizes – one for a current student in the School of Humanites, one for a graduating student from the University of Brighton and another for a filmmaker with strong links with Brighton.
Applications close on May 1 and prizes will be awarded on May 30.
