Second year Knitted Textile students will be leading yarn based skill sessions in a relaxed creative space at the Brighton Chamber of Commerce Summit 2017 at The Clarendon Centre in Brighton on Friday 13th October.
Activities will include interactive discussion about their design work, sharing knitting and crochet skills with beginners and experienced alike, and facilitating the on-going creation of a communal 3D knitted piece.
The students taking part are Sigita Kaleth, Emily Powell, Melanie Valenzia, Natasha Robichaud, Charlee Singleton, Georgia Conway, Zoe Smith, Heather Acketts, Lillian Sadeghi, Daisy Filani and Emma Newman.
This textile piece is an ongoing project that has been to various other events and is slowly developing its own history.
Lecturer Vikki Haffenden said: “Participating in the Summit 2017 is a valuable opportunity for Knitted Textile students from the School of Art to integrate with business in Brighton. They will curate an exhibition of their own work, and share their burgeoning professional design and craft skills with established members of the Brighton creative community. Students will have a great opportunity to network with local business people.”
