I started imagining this project around a year ago, it was in fragmented pieces in my mind at that stage, but the seed was there. during this time ive been noticing a growing trend towards Mars, and over the past few months as this project has been coming into fruition, these trends have been right in my face. The most amazing thing on this page is a quote from Elon Musk (Space-X founder) and it really echoes some of the propaganda style excitement around Mars that im trying to achieve in my project:
“You want to wake up in the morning and think the future is going to be great – and that’s what being a spacefaring civilization is all about. It’s about believing in the future and thinking that the future will be better than the past. And I can’t think of anything more exciting than going out there and being among the stars.”
The way it says ‘YOU want’, ‘believing’ ‘the future WILL be better’ ‘cant think of anything more exciting’
It’s amazing, feels like i’m stumbling across my project in real life.

I’m so upset that this exhibition isnt until October 2019, because it couldnt be more relevant!! Either way I am sickeningly excited to go and see it when it’s finally out.

In the meantime though, on April 26th, opens the Stanley Kubrick (director of 2001: a space odyssey) exhibition. It’s about 1 week before deadline, so might be hectic timing, but if I have the chance to pop down to London, I will go and see it 🙂

This s going to be a really exciting expo next year, ‘Welcome to the future’, showcasing a huge amount of future technologies and projects, including space travel, with some focus on Mars. Advertisements for this have been popping up on my instagram (talk about targeted advertising) and that’s how I found out about it. It looks super exciting, I definitely am going to have to find a way to get to Dubai while this is on, it would be expensive but woth saving up for. The instagram adverts I saw had a similar tone to the Space-X quote, very persuasive, saying things such as:
“we humans need to do more than ever before”
“we can make the future great”
“from discovering new lands. to discovering new planets. we’ve come so far. but still have miles to go. and this is only the beginning.”
“we are the most curious beings on the planet. how can we rest with so many mysteries unexplained and with so much unexplored? the future holds the answers!”

Emirates Mars Mission

This is going to be an un-manned mission to Mars in 2020. I didnt realise until I just typed it into google to find the link to put on this blog post that its called the “Hope Mars Mission”, and! the spaceship is called “Hope” too! I’ve been looking at the concept and feeling of hope for my project massively! This is too coincidental!! I honestly can’t stress enough how strange it is, finding out about all these projects and missions and seeing how much they relate to my work! I feel like im bang on the money, i’ve somehow ended up right in the middle of a huge growing trend and it’s really fulfilling t see m vision for Mars matches up with some of the major players in the Mars industry right now.
What an exiting time to launch this project!
