Mental Health Awareness Week at Falmer
Next week is Mental Health Awareness Week (13 – 19 May) and to support our students, the team at Falmer are offering a wide range of events that have been designed to promote health, wellbeing and provide an opportunity to have fun!
This year’s Mental Health Awareness Week theme is Body Image – how we think and feel about our bodies. There will be events across the University’s campuses, including an inspiring talk by Johnny Benjamin at our Eastbourne Campus. Here at Falmer, Student Support and Guidance Tutors (SSGTs), the Library team and Brighton Student Union (BSU) are offering events across the week including:
Time to Paws –Â Tuesday 14 May from 12noon to 2pm – Common Room in Ringmer House (BSU)
Students are welcome to take a break from the stresses of studying and spend some well-deserved time out with trained therapy dogs! BSU health and wellbeing team will also be around to chat to.
Walk My Dog – Wednesday 15 May from 2pm to 3pm – Meet outside the Checkland Building at 1.50pm (SSGTs)
A chance to enjoy some fresh air, exercise and a chat with some friendly faces on a lovely dog walk – bring your dog if you have one!
Lavender Bags and Life Drawing – Thursday 16 May from 10am – 12noon – Checkland Atrium (SSGTs)
Come and get creative – enjoy the chance to embrace body positivity with clothed, drop-in life drawing and relax with lavender bag making. All art supplies are provided!
Lego Wellbeing Game – throughout the week – Falmer Library room 218 (libraries)
Monday 13 May from 11.30am – 12noon
Tuesday 14 May from 12noon – 12.30pm
Wednesday 15 May from 3.30pm – 4.00pm
Chill and Relax room – throughout the week – Room 218 (libraries)
