A great end to their course!

Final year Primary English Education BA(Hons) with QTS students were treated to two visiting speakers at their final course event.

The event was linked to two final year modules which focus on the learning, teaching and assessment of English in the Early Years Foundation Stage, Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2.

Sussex based author and illustrator Sophy Henn spoke about her journey as a reader, author and illustrator. Her children’s books are bright, bold and full of wonderful themes for children and are definitely worthy of being in every nursery and Reception and Year 1 classes.

Forest Way Storytellers are a local storytelling organisation who run events throughout the year. They shared some of their favourite stories with the students and it was an inspirational reminder of the power of storytelling in the classroom, and how inviting, special and memorable a story told can be.

The students were also able to buy discounted books at the event from the Book Nook. Many of the students chose to purchase one of Sophy’s which she was happy to sign for them.

Throughout the course we encourage visitors, story tellers and authors in to inspire students and support them to see how they can bring stories to life in the classroom, through storytelling themselves and through amazing books.
