Primary Mathematics Specialist Teacher Programme (MaST)

We are currently accepting applications for our 1-year, part-time course, leading to a PGCert qualification (60 Level 7 credits).

education_may2011017Our Primary Mathematics Specialist Teacher PGCert is designed for experienced and practising primary teachers who want to further their understanding of mathematics and mathematics teaching and learning.

The programme consists of two main components:

  • deepening mathematics subject knowledge and
  • strengthening and developing pedagogical knowledge through analysis of and reflection on your own classroom practice.

The course starts in January and continues throughout the year with teaching taking place through a combination of Saturday and Thursday evening workshops, (no sessions during school holidays). It is suitable for applicants with Qualified Teacher Status and employed as a primary classroom teacher on a minimum 0.5 contract. You must be teaching at least three mathematics lessons per week.
