ZINE WORKSHOP

There was a zine workshop in the studio. There were several types of bookbinding on the hand out paper. Since I am really into book making, this workshop was really interesting for me.

However, I thought this workshop would be finishing our current project journey, I haven’t brought that many materials with me. So I had to work with quite limited materials.

I made this small zine first. It was the ‘T-cut’ style. After cutting it and fold it, I found that this is in a quite long shape, so I thought it would be nice to use that to create something interesting. Also I discerned that I can flip the pages on each sides, I thought it might work as the sequences.

I painted a cat that has a really long body, and tried to add the narrative by putting a butterfly, which keeps annoying the cat.

The next zine I made was in ‘French-fold’ system. It was quite easy to make. All I have to do is folding the sheets and stapling them together.

It is a quite interesting form, because you can hide something between the pages. I wrote down the titles of eace images on that space.

I wanted it to be related with my current project, so I used those small pieces from the imageries I have produced for the project. Also, I added some abstract images to make it more like broken pieces of daily moments.

We had a small crit at the end of the day. It was great to see everyone’s works. The binding styles were different, and the ways of filling the pages were different, too.
