ETCHING WORKSHOP
I had an Etching workshop at uni. It was my first time to do etching.
It was a quite interesting, but quite complex process. The printing itself was same as the mono print or lino, put the ink on the top and use the press to print it on the paper, but since etching is using a metal plate, I had to use acid to erode the exposed sections of metal, which was quite scary!
However I quite like the whole process of print making.
Those are the metal palette I have made in the session.
I made two different types, one was the hard ground, the other was the soft ground.
I preferred the soft ground, because it caught the tiny details and textures better. I want to try doing soft ground etchings with some feathers and flowers later, which have got really soft and gentle textures.
