Priscila Lena Farias is a graphic designer, a researcher, and an Associate Professor at the University of São Paulo.

It was quite interesting to listen to her talk, because it was my first time to have a lecture outside of Europe. Not to mention the curriculum, but even the campus and the buildings were really different from that of Europe.

She used the text and image in a really harmonious way. She has done a few comics, which is the good example for the mixture of the text and the image.

She also used the collage, which can be regarded as the mixture of different types of images, in a very affective way. In her illustration work Volleyball, Those collaged eyes and teeth are really catching the audiences.

I quite liked the idea that use the old one to make a new one as well, for example, Creola typeface was started from the typed old book. Sometimes I even look back to my own sketchbook to find a basis to start a new thing. It also reminds me of the importance of the research.
