BLUE SCREEN WORKSHOP
There was a one day project using the blue screen techniques. The topic was ‘Fake Memory”. We started from mapping the ideas, there were several interesting ideas, and we chose the video game as the starting point.
We tried to think of a specific video game, like Mario Cart, Tetris, Super Mario and so on. Then, one of us came up with an idea of the Sims. Most of us had that memory, trying to kill the sims.
We made a simple story board, there will be two sims, one of them will be drowned in the pool.
There were few props that we need: the symbolic jewels above the sims, talking and thinking bubbles, and the wave. We only had very limited time, so we divided our rules to make them quickly. I have made the jewel and the loading bar, which was not used in actual shooting. However, I was happy that those jewels look so real on the camera!
The set was all in blue, and those people who were going to hold the props were in blue as well. The background image appeared on every blue bits. It was really cool.
Since there were lots of groups should film on one day, we only had half an hour to film ours. I added the sound, the front and back cover afterwards at home.
It was a great opportunity to see how the blue screen works, because I was always curious about that in movies.
