CASA BATLLO

CASA BATLLO

I went to Barcelona and visited Gaudi’s Casa Batllo, which was really catching my eyes.

It was built between 1904 and 1906. It is a masterpiece of Gaudi, its shape, colour and light show his amazing imagination. In this work, he is pre-empting the theory of rationalism, which would come 30 years later, with its modern notion of ventilation.

The building was so amazing! Those curvy doors, windows made it  looked like a place in dream world. Walls with colourful tiles, which varies in colours, lighter shades in the bottom and darker shades on the top, reminded me of the ocean. For me, the ocean can be regarded as something full of joy but mysterious and dangerous at the same time, which is quite similar with our dreams.

Its pillars also looked like human bones as well. Especially those infinity shaped structures for the windows looked like pelvic bones.

It was so unrealistic to see this building in between normal buildings.
