SEB LESTER
Seb Lester is an artist, type designer and calligrapher based in the UK.
He has done his degree in Graphic Design at Central Saint Martins in London. He has worked with many world’s biggest companies for logos and type illustrations, including NASA. He also designed unique typefaces for famous companies, like Intel, H&M and so on.
On 19th October 2016, there was a lecture by Seb Lester. To be honest, at the first time I thought I would not like this lecture, because it seemed like typography and calligraphy are a bit far from what I would like to do. However, I found this lecture so enjoyable and helpful.
I was amazed at his abilities in variety of fields. He can draw and paint well in a super realism style. He can make lots of different typefaces for many usages. He can write gorgeous calligraphies as well!
I think this is the difference among Seb Lester and others. He had such a great career in one field, but he was brave enough to leave it and find another field to start working. He said he started writing calligraphies to be famous, though.
In his lecture, he emphasised the importance of using social media. It is a powerful method for advertising yourself. It can be spreaded all over the world. He said he has gained the most followers on the Instagram when he was on the Facebook page for his hand drawing calligraphies. I should try using the connection between social medias.
