Welcome to our new international students!

Welcome to our University of Brighton community! As you begin your academic journey with us, here’s a glimpse of what awaits you in the exciting 2024-25 academic year.

Starting university as an international student can be challenging, with new cultures, environments, and academic systems to navigate.

Here at Brighton, we’re here to make this transition smoother for you. With dedicated support services, social events, and resources tailored specifically to international students, we’re here to help you feel like you belong during this exciting new chapter of your life. We’re here to support you every step of the way!

Your supportive community

At Brighton, you’re more than just a student – you’re a valued member of a community committed to your success. From enrolment, you’ll have access to a range of resources aimed at supporting both your academic achievements and personal development. Our combination of in-person and online learning, alongside comprehensive student support services, ensures you have everything you need to succeed.

University life is about making connections and memories. Take advantage of social events and activities during your first few weeks to help you settle into student life. There are a variety of fun and engaging events designed to kickstart your Brighton journey in the best way possible!

Freshers week

Brighton Students’ Union have a full calendar of freshers activities to help you meet other students with similar interests. Packed full of great opportunities to connect and have fun with your fellow Brighton peers, there’s something for everyone.

Not sure where to start? Brighton’s Freshers Fair on Thursday 26 September from 10:30am is the perfect chance to see what Brighton has to offer. Meet other new students and speak to our student-led societies to see what’s on offer.

Explore our campuses 

Studying at Brighton means building a connection with our vibrant city and diverse campuses. No matter where you’re based, the university campuses have been created to enrich your student experiences both in and out of classes.

Moulsecoomb campus

Our recently transformed Moulsecoomb campus features state-of-the-art facilities, including the new Elm House, modern study spaces, a fitness centre and our Students’ Union bar.

It’s the largest of our campuses with easy access to shops, cafes, Mithras Halls of residence, and the city centre.

Falmer campus

Located in the scenic South Downs National Park, our Falmer campus blends peaceful countryside with quick access to Brighton. The campus is next to local premiership football club’s home, Brighton & Hove Albion’s Amex Stadium.

There are two halls of residence on campus, a library and impressive sports facilities, including a floodlit astroturf football pitch and a sports hall.

City campus

In the heart of Brighton, our City campus offers a cultural and creative atmosphere with nearby residences like Phoenix Brewery.

Enjoy a vibrant nearby social scene, including art spaces, bars, theatres and music venues – and you’re just a short walk from the beach!

Academic support and resources

Studying at a university can be challenging, but at Brighton, you’re never alone. Brighton Student Skills Hub offers resources and one-to-one support to help you develop essential skills.

You should also work closely with your Personal Academic Tutor throughout your time with us to set learning and career goals.

Support and wellbeing

Your wellbeing is a priority. We have a robust support system, including Student Support and Guidance Tutors (SSGTs) and Student Residential Advisors.

Our International Student Advice Service are here to help you navigate university life. If you need support, you can make an appointment to meet the team in person or online.

Your timetable

Your academic journey starts with a welcome timetable designed to introduce you to your course and the university. While your full academic timetable may be finalised after your arrival, the first few weeks will be filled with activities to help you settle in.
