I looked at a couple of landscape photographers to get some location inspiration. I hate photographing in the studio, to me it is quite boring. Shooting on location, mostly in nature is my favourite as you will see from my final images.

Styling

Me and Sacha worked together on these photographs. I styled the models, and Sacha photographed. We both came up with a location together. I really like these photographs, they came out really well. I also think the location is a really cool place to photograph in as it is just a warehouse with furniture, clothes and different items being sold for cheaper.

Corinne Day

I’ve been looking at Corinne Day for inspiration throughout my FMP. As i’ve been exploring Day’s work, i’ve realised she likes to shoot in locations that are slighly more run down. This gave me inspiration to find my locations for my photoshoots. Location to me is really important, it makes up a photo. The styling could be amazing, the model could be perfect but if the location doesn’t work, that to me is an unsuccessful photoshoot.

In a few of my photoshoots, i’ve used locations that are slightly more run down and not the typical location that would be used. The photographs above are a good example of a location that wouldn’t typically be chosen as a good spot to shoot at. I really like the run down location with the glamerous styling, it works well together because they’re so different.

Baud Postma’s work is breathtaking. The slow shutter speed and the soft focus with the lens really works well, and Postma has made it look so good. In my opinion, it is hard to make an intentional blurry photo look good and professional, but Baud makes it look easy. The bold eyes and the vibrant colours work so well together. It works better with the blurry effect then if it was a normal photograph, and i’m also a big fan of the soft focus on the skin. I looked at Baud Postma’s work as he has done photography with slow shutter speed and a soft focus, and for my second photoshoot I used my film camera and the lighting was incredibly bad as my location was in a old Natwest bank cellar. So all my photographs came out blurry, and although it wasn’t intentional I still really liked how they came out.

My first photoshoot

These are my first set of photoshoots, and as I mentioned I’m really not happy with these so I won’t be using these in my final outcome. They’re a nice set of photographs, but I just shot my models in the same position the whole time and I’m big on photographing outside in nature so for me this wasn’t an ideal location. I used both digital and film to shoot these photos.

Polyester zine inspiration

My first idea was to make a zine, so I started looking at Polyester Zine for inspiration and I really liked these photo. I wanted to recreate something similar, but after speaking to my tutors I realised that it wasn’t my style of photography and I was trying to recreate something that wasn’t my thing.
