BBS Summer Job Club…

I’m pleased to announce the launch of the Brighton Business School’s new Summer Job Club, from next week.  If you’re a current student or recent graduate of the School then please feel free to drop in to get some employability support/advice.

I’ll be happy to look over your CV, help you search for work, prepare for interviews or talk over career plans or concerns.

The sessions are on as follows, I hope to see you there ! :

Mondays, July 24th & 31st, and September 4th (between 2-4pm);

Wednesdays, July 26th, and August 2nd, 23rd & 30th (12-2pm);

Fridays, August 4th & 25th, and September 1st (10am-12 midday).

All are held in room 150 in Mithras House, no need to sign up, just come along !

Coping with stress and anxiety

In this piece, I’d like to discuss some what I hope are useful, practical and positive ways to enable you to manage stress, anxiety, and your mental and physical wellbeing.

An obvious point, but one we often forget, I feel, is that some level of stress and fear is normal – and perfectly fine. We’re hard-wired, from our hunter-gatherer days, to have some level of anxiety in situations (though generally we’re not about to be eaten by a bear these days!).  So, some worrying about an upcoming exam or presentation is really no problem.

How to manage your time effectively !…

Einstein said ‘Time is an illusion.”  It certainly is a fickle beast.  Too little of it can be stressful (that racing feeling of thinking you can’t get it all done!).  Too much of it can also be stressful (not enough motivation to get it all done!).

Learn to be the boss of it and you can manage your workload, resources and energy successfully and you will feel positive, achieve well and earn millions (Note – the last claim is not legally binding !)…. Continue reading
