For this week, our task was the laser scan a small object e.g. hairdryer by using an iPad with scanning software and equipment. After this was done we needed to upload the laser scan into a software called Meshmixer.

Meshmixer is a 3D Modelling and Printing software in which allows the user to blend existing meshes to create new 3D models. Whenever you need to clean a 3D scan of something, 3D print or just design an object, Meshmixer is a great piece of software to use.

In terms of the iPad laser scan, I decided that I wanted to scan the mouse that I made for DP401 as I felt that this mouse would be a perfect size for the iPad to scan, neither too big nor too small. And in terms of Meshmixer, once the scan of my object was in the software, I needed to use the appropriate tools to clean the scan and give it a clean look.
