I have created these images in response to the brief ‘ A Sense of Place’ by subverting the task and highlighting a loss of a sense of place. These photographs have been shot in various camera settings in order to convey a clear and still representation of a loss of ‘A Sense Of Place’ and some are created where you can see movement which I intended to portray as somewhat chaotic and a sense of struggle to further portray loneliness, eeriness and being isolated from society. These photos are somewhat personal, as I have struggled with having a sense of place in society in general and within my friendships. However I have also created these photos as many of the people I have met in my life struggle with having ‘A sense of Place’ and deal with mental health issues that lead them to feel isolated and lonely. The photographs were created in black and white to further ‘drain’ the life and happiness out of the pictures and create a bleak but beautiful image for people to view and either relate to or experience a feeling of empathy towards what these photographs convey.
