In collaboration with Our Future City and Hove Civic Society, we are engaging with school children at St. Andrews (Hove) in a creative process to collectively co-produce an artwork, inspired by the Constellation sculpture on the Hove Plinth. The process is being facilitated by the artist, Jo Coles (www.jocoles.uk), and will be delivered through a series of workshops in March 2019 which explore:
- The locality and children’s sense of belonging and identity
- Individual and collective stories and significant objects/places
- The role of digital technologies to support and capture the process
During this workshop, children will explore their physical environment and their journeys home in the Hove surroundings as well as those things which are relevant to them. Children will then be given the opportunity to develop both and individual and collective artwork.
Physical objects will be used to collect information regarding what is significant in the children’s environment
Digital technologies will support the development of the collective artwork as well as capturing/re-telling the stories told by the children, through the creation of an interactive app.
