My experimentation with sheer tights

My experimentation with sheer tights

Throughout this project I have tried out multiple experimentations with sheer tights. My main reasoning for this was to not only broaden my creative skills but to enable me to discover more about the sheer tight and see what I could do with it when deconstructing it.

Making Figures:I

I experimented a lot with sheer tights, taking inspiration from artist Sarah Lucas. I filled some tights with cotton wadding, newspaper, painted on tights and even covered a busts head in tights. This was all to help me learn what I can do with this thought to be ‘ordinary’ object. I found that I could create various different models and pieces of art/ fashion with sheer tights.

My focal point in this project was to look into how the trend to wear laddered sheer tights in this present day, allow for a person’s identity to be exhibited. I tried to portray this idea through my experimentation- Newspaper seeping out of the holes, acting as a representation for a person’s identity, along with laddered sheer tights covering a busts head.
