Styling Workshop with Stephanie John (10/10/16)

On Monday, as a group we had a lecture about fashion styling from Stephanie John, who was the Styling Director for Burberry for over eight years. I very much enjoyed her lecture as she spoke about gaining research and ideas from outside fashion sources, such as photographers, artists, films etc. I acquainted a lot of notes and wrote down some of the key sources Stephanie told us to look at such as:

Bjork– composing music to natural elements

Jeremy Deller– won Turner prize- looks at idea of brutishness

William Morris– Textile designer, in to protesting against the industrial revolution

PJ Harvey– musician

After the lecture, were lucky enough to have a two hour styling session with Stephanie. We were told to bring in one white shirt along with a large amount of old denim. We were told to bring cutting equipment along with different tools we could manipulate the garments with.

Before the session I decided to carry out some research on ‘The White Shirt’ and denim, I have made another post to show some of my online research.
