Occupational health

All students are advised to engage with the national recommendations that annual Covid boosters are recommended for frontline health care workers, as for influenza.

Students in the First Year of the course will be required to attend an Occupational Health clinic at the University to clarify the following

This could involve providing proof of vaccination and/or antibody testing, testing of blood, and/or provision of a series of vaccinations. As a minimum, the following need to be confirmed.

  • Hep. B- 3 primary doses, and boosters, if any; as well as Hep B serology showing immunity
  • MMR- 1st and 2nd or blood results that show immunity to Measles and Rubella.
  • Evidence of Varicella immunity (a blood test if staff member from overseas or can be a verbal history if they had chicken pox in the UK)
  • Evidence of BCG scar and/or TB blood test. If the person has lived and worked in a high TB incidence country, they would need a T-spot. TB test

For the first year, the vaccination clinics have been booked as follows:

  • Meads 112a Biomechanics Lab – Monday 4th November 9-5pm
  • Meads 202 Kinanthropometry Lab – Thursday 7th November 9-5pm

A map of Falmer campus can be found here.  Students must attend when sent an appointment: you will not be expected to attend for the whole day
