DBS

DBS stands for Disclosure Barring Service.

It is a LEGAL requirement that ALL MPharm student should obtain a valid, clear, UK Enhanced DBS certificate at the start of Year 1.  This needs to be obtained via the University of Brighton.

Failure to obtain this  certificate will impact on your placements and may affect your progression.

We strongly recommend that applicants sign up to the DBS update service –  https://www.gov.uk/dbs-update-service – within 28 days of the certificate being issued.  There is an annual charge of £13 for subscription, but it means that you can then use that certificate for any other positions in the future (as long as the new position requires the same checks as those listed on the certificate).   You will find that this will benefit you immensely for future placements and employment opportunities.

If you have an Enhanced DBS from another source, this will only be accepted if you have an Update Service on it, and the form complies with our requirements.  Please send us a scanned picture and your Update number to: SAS-Clinical-Pharmacy-Placements@brighton.ac.uk

If you receive a Police caution or court summons, you should IMMEDIATELY contact the Placement Coordinators, and complete this form.
