Syrian baking Masterclass

Members of the Syrian community in Hastings will give a demonstration of traditional baking techniques. We will then have a chance to try the results and find out more about The Hastings and Rother Refugee & Asylum Seeker Project and their buddying scheme. This event is free but due to the limited numbers of places we do ask you to book a ticket.
Please note – the sweet treats being prepared will include gluten, eggs, nuts, milk, sesame, and other allergens. If you have any dietary requirements please contact us for more information before booking a ticket.

Artist and maker Victoria Lovell will be teaching techniques for weaving on card using paper, fabric, plastic and other mixed media. We will be making squares that represent something about ourselves and our culture.

Silent Disco Beach Clean
Meet on Brighton beach next to the Palace Pier

A joint event for One World Week and Green Week. All equipment (including gloves, and a litter picking stick) will be provided (courtesy of Surfers Against Sewage). Help us clean up a section of Brighton Beach, and take part in an outside Silent Disco at the same time! We will be asking students to contribute to the playlist with music from all over the world.

Film Screening…. Human Flow

Human Flow, an epic film journey led by the internationally renowned artist Ai Weiwei, gives a powerful visual expression to this massive human migration. The documentary elucidates both the staggering scale of the refugee crisis and its profoundly personal human impact.
