Researching on WSGN for trend board layout ideas, names and aesthetics for both male and female fashion. Wanting to see what fabrics are being pushed and if any silhouettes are changing. Helping with ideas for my own trends and how to begin a macro trend board.

Photoshop workshop
My work from the photoshop workshop we had with mark on Friday. Looking at using the Anchor tool to deep etch the photos to be able to place the focus of the pictures to a different background, and using the magic eraser tool to be able to get rid of the background easier if there is more refined details in the photograph like hair.
Collages
After doing a couple of collages within my sketch book i experimented with different kinds of collages on photoshoot, working with my own photos colours and 60’s patterns. Collaging isn’t an area I’m very confident in there for its a weakness of mine as its something i don’t tend to do within my work. So i tried my best to try different types of collaging to see what i liked and what worked within the style of Zine i am creating. I wanted to perfect the collage in this project as i think it fits the zine perfectly so i tried and tested many different ideas on paper and digitally to get the right feel for my chosen theme.
60’s Photoshoot – Zine
When i was planning to do a 60’s inspired photoshoot i went straight to Pinterest to build up ideas and to get ideas from photographers looking a the style of the photograph, the styling, backgrounds and editing.
https://uk.pinterest.com/Milldyson/fanzine/
I didn’t want to replicate the photos exactly but i liked the colours used and took this as my colour pallet for my photoshoot and zine theme. I also liked the fact that even though you can tell the pictures are posed its fun and carefree with the two models, there for i used two friends to get that chemistry across in my photos as i wanted the same effect. I tested out colour and black and white editing to see what looked best with my photos, however i did sway towards preferring the colour photos because of how much the outfits stood out and the black and white lost this element, though i did use black and white for two pictures within my zine because a lot of iconic 60’s photos espesially ones with Twiggy are black and white.
These photos being a few i selected and edited for my zine, doing the photoshoot on location, looking at different locations to get the perfect backdrop, finding different locations to work with the inspiration i have taken from some 60’s fashion photos. The car was a perfect find and fit well with the style i wanted to portray, the white house and stairs stood out to me and i wanted to use this as the location as the makes the yellow and red stand out above everything else. Even though my zine topic is Twiggy i focused of colour and i think that was i have i managed to make stand out through out both my photoshoots.
GIF’s
After the workshop with Mark about creating animated gifs on photoshop i went and tried it with my own photoshoot work. I went a tested out a few ideas after i go
t confident in the process, experimenting with graphs on top, timing and effects to see what work best for different photo sets.
Here are a few examples of what i liked;

60’s Make-up
I knew as as soon as i picked Twiggy as a topic for my zine that i wanted to do a photoshoot dedicated to the make up of the 60’s looking at iconic looks Twiggy wore and 60’s make up trends looking at the colours that were worn and how.
I looked at the colours, the contrasts, eye shadow and liner shapes. The most common look was the bold black eyeliner with a catlike and cut crease line with the nude lip so this was definitely work from and adapt to the models face. I look that i really like that i saw used within fashion magazine’s through the 60’s was the bright blue eye shadow, a typical 60’s look that isn’t as bold when used today in fashion. I used the blue eye show and but stuck with the classic Twiggy eye liner shape but i did use a pink lipstick to completely clash with the blue, i didn’t want it to bold as the eye was the statement bit but also wanted to work to clashing vibrant colours throughout the look.
60’s make-up was always bold and vibrant working and matching with the outfit, if that was having clashing colours or matching. I enjoyed the make up and going over dramatic so it worked well on camera with the head shots i did so through my other photoshoot i will still like to use the make up as a stand out section to each photo.
A few photos from the photoshoot i did for the make up after editing them and adapting them within photoshop.
FANZINE
Deciding on the topic for the fanzine was a fun process and i just simply went through all my interest and created a mind map to visualise all the areas within the topic i could focus on for photoshoots. After looking at areas like; music, gymnastics and 60’s i cut it down to fashion icons in the 60’s and realised that why not simply do the Zine on Twiggy as she is such an inspiration and icon, with amazing photoshoots to work from for ideas.
Topics i decided on looking into are; the make-up, fashion, colours and feminism. Putting together photoshoots but being a bit more experimental with my ideas.
You say you want a revolution and the radical eye – Elton John collection are two exhibitions that i went to as they fit perfectly with my idea for the zine. You say you want a revolution was all about the 60’s filled with fashion, music and culture facts through out. However the Elton John collect was more focused of photographs however it was a great exhibition as it was filled with information on the art work and how it was done so collected tips on cameras and dark room techniques.

Third photoshoot for Ad137 – photography and styling
The final photoshoot we wanted to try something different so we went with male fashion. By carrying on working with the bold and clashing patterns ideas used through the workshops, but also taking inspiration from the 60’s fashion period and some of the photoshoots carried out with Mick Jagger as the model. The idea of black and white photoshoot was in my head as an idea when i was taking pictures, due to the previous photoshoot we did but also because a lot of the pictures i was using as a reference (through my Pintrest and styling board) were black and white. I did edit some of the photos to be black and white but i did believe some worked best with colour due to the pop of green background or the red lining within the suit standing out.
Working with a male model is different to a female model due to the body language, face structure and being able to create the right effect for the outfit. It took more research into each outfits and what looks good on the different body shapes of male models to make sure it worked on camera and for the models structure.
After editing my favourite couple of shots that worked best for the idea’s i had, for how i wanted to display and layout for the magazine spreads. I had to think forward to cropping the pictures in a few of these shots to create better angles and layout for them to work within a A4 or double page spread, working with black L’s helped a lot when i had printed out contacts sheets.

Second photoshoot for AD137 – Photography and styling
This photoshoot was based and inspired around the idea of the ‘Alter Ego’. I looked into different individuals for ideas on how to portray the idea through a series of photos, looking at fashion from people like, Lady Gaga and Prince. Both Maria and i wanted to create extravagant outfits with a bold statement piece for each one.
We did not indent to do the photoshoot in black one white as the outfits we picked were bright and full of colour, however after editing them as using a setting on the camera we decided they look of a more higher quality as gave a vintage edge to them. Carrying out the photoshoot on sight instead of in a studio as it gives a better finish to each picture due to the location not being fake, gives it depth.
In my opinion some outfits worked better on camera then others. I liked the effect of the mirror and the reflection in a photo, so we used this to our advantage and used it throughout most of the pictures. We had to work with the lighting and spacing available within the store so we learnt and updated out ideas to fit. I think the black and white worked with this due to the shadows and depth it gave each photo.
