Third photoshoot for Ad137 – photography and styling
The final photoshoot we wanted to try something different so we went with male fashion. By carrying on working with the bold and clashing patterns ideas used through the workshops, but also taking inspiration from the 60’s fashion period and some of the photoshoots carried out with Mick Jagger as the model. The idea of black and white photoshoot was in my head as an idea when i was taking pictures, due to the previous photoshoot we did but also because a lot of the pictures i was using as a reference (through my Pintrest and styling board) were black and white. I did edit some of the photos to be black and white but i did believe some worked best with colour due to the pop of green background or the red lining within the suit standing out.
Working with a male model is different to a female model due to the body language, face structure and being able to create the right effect for the outfit. It took more research into each outfits and what looks good on the different body shapes of male models to make sure it worked on camera and for the models structure.
After editing my favourite couple of shots that worked best for the idea’s i had, for how i wanted to display and layout for the magazine spreads. I had to think forward to cropping the pictures in a few of these shots to create better angles and layout for them to work within a A4 or double page spread, working with black L’s helped a lot when i had printed out contacts sheets.
