Red Utopian Runway Set

This was the inspiration board and initial sketch for the second runway set i made with a red/orange colour palette. I wanted to change up the actual structure for this one, straying away from the curved, rounded shapes from the green set and instead experimenting with more straight, square shapes ti create an illusion mainly inspired by this bridge image.

The final structure of this red runway set was made up of 6 separate layers with a transparent layer at the back covered with illustrated vines where the light shines through to light the set up from the back. For the runway i wanted to change it from the last one so created this more curved one that laid lower to the ground. Underneath the runway i used a lightbox again to light it up from underneath and then put red tracing paper over this to diffuse the harsh white lighting. For the nature aspect to the set i used plants and bits of trees that i had found and then spray painted them red in order for them to fit with the red colour scheme of this set. The model i added to this set was a look from one of Iris Van Herpen’s Haute Couture collections, i used this as i feel the red and white colours fit well with the colour scheme as well as the straight, rigid lines.

The finals from this red set

This was a video i made to show the making of the red set, documenting the process as well as showing the finals.
