Launch Event

As part of the visual promotion project I decided to create a launch event in order to promote my make-up brand. The main inspiration and theme that runs throughout my make-up brand is flowers and spring so I wanted to hold this event in an elegant, greenhouse style space that reflected this. After researching I found the Palacio De Cristal in Madrid and this was the perfect location for the event. I  loved the architecture of this building, especially the grand windows all around and the Madrid location was also perfect as it was the first place Balenciaga was sold in outside of its origin country, relating the sub brand back to the main brand in a subtle way.

The main inspiration for how the inside of the event would look was the Dior Summer/Spring 2014 runway show, created and designed by creative director Raf Simmons. This collection was showcased in Paris’ historical garden of Musée Rodin and was transformed into a blossoming floral wonderland. Simmons created a series of structural metal supports joined to create a temporary graphic greenhouse. Flowers such as wisteria, roses and lianas, all woven and draped within the structure to create a flower utopia.

The whole design of this runway was the main inspiration for how I wanted the inside of my launch event to look, but instead within the Palacio De Cristal, with the flower design hanging from the ceilings to recreate the flower wonderland. I also planned for a runway to run through the middle of the building where models would be showcasing different looks created with the make-up. To promote the make-up launch even further I had the idea that the make-up looks could be created by different make-up artists that I had previously researched ranging from high end make-up artists such as Mario Dedivanovic to Youtube sensations NikkieTutorials. In doing this it would bring in a wider audience range and having different popular Youtube artists it would also be appealing to the teen target audience. To run with the pressed flowers in resin theme that’s been running throughout I also had the idea to create invitations to the event that would be in this style as well as having the actual products in blocks like this or suspended from the ceiling.
