TED:Talks. How to walk like a ‘Ted Talker’
Talk Like Ted
I watched countless Ted Talks throughout my University career which were extremely beneficial, from marketing to psychology to one of the last Ted’s I remember watching was Kevin Bacon’s six degrees of separation. The six degrees of separation talk was offered in a digital marketing lecture to help us better understand how we are all connected, especially digitally.
My interest in Ted Talks grew and they become a several-a-week occurrence for me to view.
Talk Like Ted
I purchased a book recently to help massage my desire of Ted Talks farther. Talk Like Ted by Carmine Gello offers a 9 chapter insight into how one may improve their public speaking technique. The book tells individuals how to be:
- Emotional
- A storyteller
- A conversationist
- A teacher
- A sensitive comedian
- How to abide by the 18-minute rule
- To be a Vincent Van Gogh with words
- Stay within your knowledgable boundaries
The book also offers insight into how storytelling can create an emotional rapport between you and your listeners.
I found this book really interesting and also I feel this book will help me greatly post-university within my professional career.
If you do not have the time to read the full book I would suggest reading a 20-minute summary from the good people at Joosr. Talk like Ted can also be downloaded as part of a free trial here.
As much as I enjoyed the book I also really enjoy videos explaining six degrees of separation, watch the video below, I found it really interesting.
