On the Easter Break, I gave myself the first week completely off from my FMP, I want to stop thinking about it and comeback a week later with a fresh mind. One the week off, I do nothing on the computer but still thinking about the project mostly. I came to the idea of making the event for my project, which been in my head since the beginning of the project. I want to create an atmosphere where people can experience the visual of what I have create and enjoy the Viet atmosphere I will to recreate and some tapas food. I been thinking about this and also ask for advice some of my friends that currently work as an artist, they all support me to do this event and personally I don’t feel like my project complete without it. In Vietnam, we work and living in community by that I want to celebrate and showcase my works with all the people I have a chance to work with and my friends, my tutors, etc. I have contact with the Lost and Found Taproom near my house and rent the space for 3 hours event starting from 6pm -9pm on 12th May. I understand that it would be very hectic for me in the couple of week since I have my FMP, sketchbooks, and portfolio modules and also my part time job.  But I would love do it before the Uni Graduate show because I would be able to show some of the image/document from the event onto the Grad show.

After making the venue reservation, I get started on making a list of what I have to prepare. I go on TikTok to see what people prepare for their solo exhibition. I wouldn’t say mine is like an exhibition but I would want to be professional with the planning and preparation for the event. I will print out some postcards from my works for selling, also making a list of food that will be served in the event, managing my budget. Also I make a draft layout about how I want to decorate the venue to work with my Vietnamese atmosphere. I might have to look for 1-2 assistant for the day since I can’t really do all the job by myself, I’m thinking to reach out to Vietnamese community in Brighton to see if anyone available to assist.

I’m now very excited and very nervous to making this huge decision in my life. I believe that it will be great and hopefully people will have a good time there.

I spend some time editing picture for postcard and picture for displaying at the event. I only chose decent paper and A3 size as I want to keep a balance budget on this event. I will showcase my Visual book on the screen as well because they have a TV in the venue.
