As seen in the museum of Transology – there are tags that tell a story on each item, for instance this was my first lipstick, this was a big deal for her as this was part of her transition from male to female. This is also nostalgic. It was in this way that I was perceiving nostalgia when thinking of where to focus my research.

As with the clutch bag, the owner speaks of how it is her first good bag and also of how it did not hear the abuse being shouted at her, it did not see the attack, it only felt her joy as danced and lived. My perception of this is that although that was the item she was holding when all of these negative things were happening, the bag itself never symbolised any of those bad memories as she was happy with her external identity, so the bag i take it, was part of that as she used it none stop for 2 years.

I like to think this way in terms of some items of clothing, there are often I believe singular items of clothing that have meaning to persons personal story, it may be in the sense of how someone would like to be perceived, or something that makes them happy or that they just into – for instance levis denim jackets, or cowboy boots, or braces – These items will always say something about the wearer as there must have always been some personal interest in that style/ item for them to choose it
