Layout for final diversity shots

Evaluation

Shooting for the diversity brief was a real joy and my favourite project so far for a number of reasons, not all being fantastically professional or mature ways of thinking but none the less as I was shooting in my home town in gorgeous weather, working with my parents on a topic that I love and would love to further explore in future projects, Monogamy.

The styling and location both mirror my parents relationship and are exactly what they would wear out on a date, and this exactly what I was aiming for.

As a topic of diversity I interpreted the brief to mean that we were to produce projects that reflected areas of society that are neglected in fashion magazines today, I decided to look at the fact that most fashion imagery are hyper sexual and mostly only celebrate very single life, potentially looking for a partner or just celebrating sex. Monogamy on the other hand is not an area that is ever greatly looked at in fashion magazines, not only this but as in the ”40 minute lecture on diversity” we are told that our target audience for ID magazine should be aiming at people of 40+ and to think about how to do this. I approached this by using models who are in their 50s, live in the countryside and are most importantly together and are married. By choosing this location I am speaking to lots of people that fit into the age group that ID have stated and by featuring models who also fit into the age group, I am further representing that reader and speaking to them on a broader level by looking at married couples as a large proportion of this age group yes may not be married but a large proportion of them are.

My only wish for the shoot is that we’d have achieve even more natural looking shots!
