HereĀ I have some initial ideas/ thumbnails for the 6 drawings to be completed. With the combination of themes from both my box of flora/fauna and decay which I decided as the secondary theme. I think these themes would make for an interesting visual communication. One of the most natural processes in life or death. I am currently collecting my source / reference material before I begin the stages of drawing / planning.

Monoprint experiments in the studio
In the studio we experimented with mono prints. We did this by engraving into a piece of card, rolling ink onto a glass surface and then onto our card before pressing it onto a separate piece of paper.
I created an abstract skeleton engraving by drawing with pencil and then cutting partially through the card.
In another print I cut up a rubber glove and placed the segments into the shape of a heart, then I placed the paper on top before rolling the ink. This created the soft illusion of a heart shape. In hindsight I wish I pressed the ink down further or used a little less to try and achieve the veiny effect the gloves had.
I really enjoyed using these methods but I believe it will take some more practise to fully grasp the best way to do this in my style.
Two dancers
Two quick 2 minute sketches practising form and anatomy of the human body using references of dancers.
Markmaking experiments in the studio
Here are some mark making experiments I did in the studio. I used a mixture of Indian ink and water to make these. I found it exciting to make marks without any expectation to create something beautiful or interesting. I particularly liked experiments with wetting the page and then watching the ink disperse.
