The concept for this piece was a computer code on ‘how to create a shit prime minister’ inserting some of May’s favourite phrases ‘Strong and stable’ and ‘Brexit means Brexit’

 

This project was inspired by the Frankenstein book, where a monster is created. I decided to create a series of gifs based on the political monster Theresa May, created by the government. It is a commentary on how Theresa May, also known as “Maybot” has not been able to restore and gain the publics trust due to her lack of reliability.

• This gif is based on her use of repetition of the phrase “strong and stable” which is supposed to reassure the public that she is doing a good job however she just sounds stupid and in fact has the opposite effect because it sounds like she doesn’t know what is happening in our country at the moment.

• This gif is a play on May being controlled by the conservative government by hypnosis.

• This gif is about “Maybot” and half of brain is a computer where other peoples thoughts are fed to her brain and the hypnosis. Saying her famous words “strong and stable”

 

The Monstrous Feminine critically examines the value society places on vanity, consumerism and the pursuit of perfection and eternal youth. Historically women’s sexuality has often been portrayed as something scary, uncomfortable and threatening. There is enormous cultural fear surrounding the idea of ageing and as such there is an entire generation of women whose identities are being shaped by this. This work holds a mirror to the rituals and processes women engage with in response to these paradigms.

These are a collection of illustrations inspired by the life drawing session, I was inspired by the piece I made of the silhouette of the life model (flat image with contrast of colours)

Inspired by research into scientology, illuminati  and aliens, I made a series of illustrations based on the belief that the government are aliens and wear human skin.  And there being a place were they can purchase these ‘skins’.

Initially I wanted to explore the book metamorphism and focus on the idea of turning into something or revealing truth. My idea is to create a political piece on the current Tory government.

This life drawing session was with Astrid Chesney, in the class we mainly experimented with composition and scale. The initial sketches were quick poses focusing on the shape and line of the model, I did these sketches with my left hand in order to pay attention to the line, to make a more accurate drawing.

We also experimented with surrealism by using images projecting behind the life model, to create a scene of a woman at sea.  I also played with tone, I wanted to create depth, the water colours really helped with this as you can build the layers to create a deeper tone.
